Fox Valley Literacy is dedicated to offering free education to adults living in the northeast Wisconsin counties of Outagamie, Waupaca, northern Calumet, and northern Winnebago.

English Classes:
Individual and group instruction for very beginning English learners to advanced speakers in one-to-one settings to enhance language skills for everyday communication and professional opportunities.
General Education:
Individual tutoring to help learners strengthen reading, writing, or math skills, or meet academic goals such as earning a GED/HSED or a university credential.
Civics & Citizenship:
Prepare for the US Citizenship interview with the help of a tutor.
HMong Family Literacy:
This unique program helps Hmong parents build English skills, and their children learn Hmong. Both learn in separate groups and gather to practice what they have learned through family activities.
Individual Projects:
Our tutors can help with the written driver’s test, entrance exams, computer skills, and more!
All our programs are free to participants! All services are provided by the work of staff, volunteer tutors, donors, and partners.

To become a Fox Valley Literacy student, fill out the Student Form to schedule an appointment to meet with one of our Adult Literacy Specialists! You have to be 18 years or older to become a student and you can start learning English now by attending small group conversation classes!

Q: Who can attend your classes?
A: Our classes are open to all adults in the community. Whether you're a beginner or looking to improve your English skills, we welcome you!
Q: How much do the classes cost?
A: All our classes and tutoring services are completely free for students.
Q: How do I enroll in a class?
A: To enroll, you can contact us via our online student application (link), phone, email, or visit our office. We can help you get started!
Q: What instruction do you offer?
A: We offer classes in Reading, Writing, Math, English language, Civics & Citizenship, Computer Skills, and Individual Projects like GED, HSED, Citizenship and Driver’s test, and more.
Q: What if I have a busy schedule?
A: We understand. Our classes are flexible, so we do our best to design a schedule that works for you.
Q: Can I take more than one class at a time?
A: Yes! You are welcome to enroll in multiple classes.
Q: What materials do I need for class?
A: We provide most materials, including pens/pencils and notebooks to students who need them, but you may be asked to bring basic supplies like notebooks or pens. Some students bring laptop computers.
Q: Are the classes in-person or online?
A: Most classes are in-person at our Appleton, WI location, but classes are also available throughout Outagamie, Waupaca, northern Winnebago, and northern Calumet counties, as well as online.
Q: What can I expect from taking your classes?
A: Improving your skills can open new opportunities for employment, civic engagement, and personal growth. Our inclusive and supportive staff and tutors will help you to achieve your goals.
